Rod's latest Cardinal Cane for Sister Schwendiman.
This is Rods latest cane for one of the Temple Matrons at the Temple. Cardinals are everywhere, and fun to watch. They even attack your outside car rear view mirrors, because they think they are protecting their area from the competition. Crazy huh! This wood is from a Pin Cherry Tree.
Surprises at the top of Hill Comorah
On the top of Hill Comorah is this Monument of the Angel Moroni. You can see it for miles. My favorite thing to do is hike straight up the hill and sit at the top and watch the world go by. I was visited by a giant tom turkey last week. He wasn't even bothered by my presence as he walked along the hill to the shelter of the trees on the other side. A very surprised welcome guest for me that day.
This is the amazing view from the top! It never is boring up here. There is always an amazing view. When the grandkids come we will have rolling races down the hill. I can't wait!!!

Ground hogs in New York
Last week as we traveled to Niagara Falls for church we saw 29 groundhogs along the roadside on the way down. Today only 5. So I guess that was an amazing groundhog sighting, Wow!
Another great week. We had visits from Lori and Sheila from Utah. They worked with us at the Provo and Payson Temples, and worked with Rod at the juvenile courts program. We hiked the Hill Comorah and had breakfast at Lorie's parents aptm at the Hill Comorah Visitor sight. They are sight missionaries who feel like our mom and dad. What a great week. We also helped prepare dinner for the new 6 month Temple missionaries. It was so fun getting to hear where they are from. A few couples are from Rexburg, Idaho. The Temple is busy as ever, with the new summer schedule starting tomorrow. Every Mission couple has 6 shifts in the week. Some are back to back that means a straight 8 hour day at the Temple. Sounds like fun to me. Dosen't get better than that!
We send greetings to all our loved ones, family, and friends. We miss you and enjoy reminiscing about the fun times we have shared. Thanks for the memories!

Looking forward to Spring
We have enjoyed riding our tandem bike again through the streets of Palmyra while we enjoy the quiet streets and hearing the birds singing. We have beautiful countryside to enjoy on the way. This is one of my favorite barns down the road built in 1896. Not too bad for that old of a building. Most everyone takes good care of their places, and most have large yards with plenty of grass to mow.
Spring is everywhere now. The trees are beginning to bloom and the birds are out singing among the trees everywhere. We enjoy our binoculars on our walks these days.
Spring flowers are everywhere. Below is a picture of the red mushrooms in the Sacred Grove.

Saying Goodbye to our upstairs neighbors, Stan and Janet Hadley.
Stan and Janet Hadley are on their way home to Pocatello , Idaho and will be very missed. He has come so far in his recovery from a stroke that happened 2 months after their arrival here. We have come to know they are family to all of us . We will always cherish the memories and laughter we have shared these past 5 months, and part of our hearts go home with them. Till we meet again! Love to you both.

some pictures for the family.
At the front doors of the Palmyra Temple
Dad is clowning around and always makes me laugh,
Picture perfect. Hope you are all well and loving life as we are. Our friends Brother and Sister Hadley are preparing to go home to Pocatello, Idaho. He is now able to go home on a medical flight. He s doing well enough to slide on a slant board to get from one service to another. So glad he is doing so much better. Dad can always make him laugh. When he laughs his whole body jiggles. We love you Stan and Janet.

Conference Sunday doesn't look like Spring in Palmyra. Pictures taken from our apartment. Even the Maple trees are starting to get red bud out
Pictures taken from our apartment Conference Sunday, April 3rd 2016.
Even the Maple trees are starting to bud out with a dark red buds. Spring is anxious to show her colors. I am looking forward to the Spring display of colors. Hope you enjoyed Conference as much as we did. We didn't get the morning session till noon, and the afternoon session at 4:00pm, and it was worth the wait. So many fabulous talks and instructions from everyone. Loved Elder Hollands talk at the end. He always speaks to my soul, and gives me comfort, hope, and peace. Happy Birthday Today Dad. We love you and miss being there for your celebration, but know our hearts are there with you. You are the best Dad ever.

We gathered after Conference at the Commorah Visitor Center after Conference Sunday Night for a Missionaries Conference Dinner. Rod topped it all off baking 4 bone in hams that were the best tasting hams ever. Of course we have left overs for the next Mission Dinner he has planned for everyone, and take home for Everyone to enjoy. It is fun to gather with all the Temple & Sight Missionaries to share our stories and get to know each other better. The friendships are our favorite part, and laughter is a big part of the evening. A good time was had by all,and we left looking forward to our next gathering. We miss you all, but feel the lord watching over you daily, and know you are all being blessed & watched over while we are away. Love you all, and send our love always.

A Great place to say farewell to 2. great Missionary Couples, the Duckworth's and Murreys at the best ice cream stop in town. Their idea of a baby cone is a triple decker at least 6 inches tall with a variety of flavors. It is hard to say goodbye to fast friends, but we have great memories we've shared that bind us forever. Thanks for sharing you hearts and Testimonies with us all.
